Hextwo Category Sanity
A simple plugin to prevent posting with no category, Uncategorized category, or more than one category selected.
What it does.
- If you forget to check a category box and try to publish your post, it will pop an alert telling you the you must select a category before you publish.
- If you have previously selected the uncategorized category and try to publish, it will pop an alert telling you that you mus uncheck the Uncategorized category.
- If you have two or more categories selected and try to publish it will pop an alert and tell you that you may only select one category.
If the current post type does not support the built-in WordPress category taxonomy, the script bails and does nothing. This will only affect posts with Category support.
In the future I might add a selection tool to allow specifying a number of categories that are allowable, but for now, I think one is a good starting point.
Download & install the zip archive
The plugin package installer can be downloaded from the WP2E project tab called “code”.
1 – Select the version to download if this option is available otherwise the “latest” version of the main plugin will be used.
2 – After downloading the zip archive install the plugin package installer in you local environment and activate the script from the plugin list.
3 – Under the section “Plugins” of the admin dashboard you should see a new “Dependencies & Licenses” link. Follow the instructions from this panel to finalize the installation of the missing dependencies.

- Download the Installer Package

- Install & activate the plugin locally

- Install the suggested dependencies
Tips: Use the WP2E panel to add/suggest new dependencies to the local installation. Press F5 in the list of dependencies if the changes are not displayed right away.
