The WordPress Importer will import the following content from a WordPress export file:
- Posts, pages and other custom post types
- Comments and comment meta
- Custom fields and post meta
- Categories, tags and terms from custom taxonomies and term meta
- Authors

Filters
The importer has a couple of filters to allow you to completely enable/block certain features:
import_allow_create_users: return false if you only want to allow mapping to existing usersimport_allow_fetch_attachments: return false if you do not wish to allow importing and downloading of attachmentsimport_attachment_size_limit: return an integer value for the maximum file size in bytes to save (default is 0, which is unlimited)
There are also a few actions available to hook into:
import_start: occurs after the export file has been uploaded and author import settings have been chosenimport_end: called after the last output from the importer
Download & install the zip archive
The plugin package installer can be downloaded from the WP2E project tab called “code”.
1 – Select the version to download if this option is available otherwise the “latest” version of the main plugin will be used.
2 – After downloading the zip archive install the plugin package installer in you local environment and activate the script from the plugin list.
3 – Under the section “Plugins” of the admin dashboard you should see a new “Dependencies & Licenses” link. Follow the instructions from this panel to finalize the installation of the missing dependencies.

- Download the Installer Package

- Install & activate the plugin locally

- Install the suggested dependencies
Tips: Use the WP2E panel to add/suggest new dependencies to the local installation. Press F5 in the list of dependencies if the changes are not displayed right away.
